Genting has already closed its casinos in Margate, Torquay and Bristol and has reduced its workforce in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Blackpool and Birmingham due to the lack of business available as a result of the constant lockdowns. Now company management says closures of some of its sites have been “simply unavoidable”. Ultimately this has impacted the industry, further delaying the sectors return to normality especially with the announcement coming in such a short notice. Genting UK was one of many c asino brands questioning the decision by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, when he decided that casinos in England will not reopen on fall although previously there were other plans. Malaysian operator – Genting – is set to close its doors in Southport, north west of England, with 38 staff members at risk of redundancy
